No international versions of the logo copy this style - not even a LITTLEĭespite the fact that, as we can see above, it’s clearly possible to do. Secondly, only the Japanese version of the title has the warped, weird staircase-up-and-down lettering of the original.

But they inverted the letter coloring so that the background is now white with red letters (instead of the opposite in the movie they’re pulling from). So, The Return of Ultraman is the inspiration now. On the flip side, DR8 is tough unless you’ve seen the logo in its original Japanese. PLUS: Do you see that language? Both the original Japanese logo and the English logos copy the same style and fonts, so international players can even recognize this if they have exposure to this Godzilla flick! A strong A. The font on DR7 is much less sloppy, but the title style seems pretty similar, and they have extremely similar color schemes. They didn’t even use the script-style font for the DR logo. “Hope’s Name” having that period at the end at least nails down what they’re referencing a bit, but it’s definitely not as clear as the previous. However, it’s accurate to neither on their own. The DR6 logo is somewhere between the poster logo (which shows the meteors and the blue-sky background that the DR logo keeps inside of the title letters) and the in-film logo (which shares the plain white background with the DR logo, but it replaces the meteor imagery with the ribbon motif). I’d give this an A+ on the “I can see what you did there” scale.īut even as soon as the DR6 logo, the parallels are less clear. Monokuma’s head even has that meteor trail that makes it analogous to VII in particular. Font is mildly different, but there’s no way you’re going to miss what this is. I mean, sure, we can see how DR5 and FFVII align.Įasy. With that said… the parallels aren’t always obvious. I actually only recognized two of them myself and only learned the others via the Danganronpa wikia just yesterday!
I hope I find this post again in like 5 years and know what they are, I need closure. 5 is self explanatory, but the rest seem so familiar yet so unclear.

I spent a good few minutes each time I replayed ch6’s trial trying to figure out what the logos were parodying if anything at all. You know - The ones they show off in Chapter 6 of Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony?
